About this privacy statement

At Invesco Australia Limited (“Invesco”) we value the privacy of your personal information. We collect your personal information in order to undertake investments, on your behalf, in Invesco funds as well as to provide you with information about other products and services that may be of interest to you.

Personal Information refers to information or an opinion about an individual whose identity is apparent from the information stored. It includes your name and contact details.

Invesco is bound by, and committed to supporting, the National Privacy Principles (NPPs) set out in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

The following statement outlines how we collect, maintain and handle your personal information according to the NPPs.


What information we collect

Invesco collects personal information on investors via application forms, phone, fax, email, feedback forms and online.

The personal information we collect about you includes:

  • Name
  • Contact details
  • Tax File Number, exemption reason or country of residence
  • Bank account details
  • Authorised Representative information
  • Investment Instructions
  • Feedback queries
If you do not provide the information requested in the application form Invesco may not be able to accept or process your application.

Use and Disclosure of Personal Information

The major reason for providing personal information is to enable Invesco to provide investment products and services to you. Invesco may use your personal information for related purposes such as administration and providing services to you in relation to investment products. Administration includes monitoring, auditing, evaluating, modelling data, dealing with complaints, answering queries and providing services in relation to investment products.

If you have nominated an Authorised Representative and/or a broker on your application form, Invesco may also share your personal information (other than tax file number information) with your Authorised Representative and/or broker.

Invesco is a member of the Invesco Group and may share your personal information (other than tax file number and financial institution account details) with other companies in the Invesco Group to provide you with information about other products and services that may be of interest to you.

Invesco may also share your information with service providers who provide outsourced services to Invesco or another member of the Invesco Group. Those members of the Invesco Group and Invesco’s service providers may be located outside Australia (where privacy obligations may differ). The types of outsourced service providers that may be provided with your personal information and the circumstances in which your personal information may be shared include:

  • administrators which provide fund accounting, unit registry and other services to Invesco;
  • printers and other companies for the purposes of preparation and distribution of statements and for handling mail;
  • market research companies for the purpose of analysing the Invesco investor base and for product development and planning;
  • legal and accounting firms, auditors, contractors, consultants, agencies and other advisers for the purpose of administering, and advising on, the product and for any associated actions;
  • in certain circumstances and with safeguards to respect your privacy, Invesco may also disclose your personal information to any person to use in relation to a proposed or actual purchase of an interest in Invesco or any part of Invesco's business.
Access to information is also granted to other persons as required by law. For example, information may be provided to government regulators or as required by a court order.

Invesco’s offer documents set out in more detail the manner in which an investor’s personal information is used in relation to Invesco Funds where we are the responsible entity or trustee. The terms of our offer to investors are set out in the relevant offer documents and by making an investment you consent to such use of your personal information. Security of personal information

At Invesco we are committed to keeping secure personal information which is provided to us. Personal information is held by Invesco’s administrator on its administration system. This system is password protected to prevent, to the extent possible, access by unauthorised personnel both at Invesco and its administrator. Invesco also stores personal information on internal marketing databases in order to better service its clients. Only Sales & Marketing staff and those assisting them have access to these databases.

Invesco have a range of measures in place which seek to ensure a strong security environment, including:

  • requiring employees to use unique passwords (which are changed regularly) to gain access to systems as well as complying with an IT password policy;
  • restricting access to our systems and physical records to authorised personnel, and prohibiting access to information which they do not need to access;
  • restricting access to buildings;
  • employing firewalls, intrusion detection systems and virus scanning tools to prevent unauthorized persons and viruses from entering our systems; and
  • providing secure storage for physical records.

Quality of personal information

If any of the details you provide change or you believe that the personal information we hold about you may be inaccurate or incomplete then please contact our Client Services Team on 1800 813 500. It is important to us that the personal information which we hold is accurate, complete and up to date.

Access

You may request access to your personal information in relation to your investment. You may make such a request by writing to the Privacy Officer, Compliance Department, GPO Box 231, Melbourne, Vic, 3001. In normal circumstances we will give you full access to your information. However, there may at times be some legal reason to deny access. If access is denied we will tell you why. Depending on the nature of any request, Invesco reserves the right to impose a reasonable charge for providing access to personal information.

Website

The information about you which the Invesco Website may collect includes:
  • information collected when you use the Accounts Online service, or other online profile or information request services;
  • requests for information you select as you use the Invesco Website, for example in requesting an Invesco prospectus to be sent to you via the “Prospectus Order Form” page;
  • any messages or comments you submit to Invesco via the Invesco Website, including identifying information such as your name, email address and telephone number, for example the “Feedback” form or via email;
  • information submitted to online facilities such as search tools or dictionaries; and
  • tracking information we collect as you use the Invesco Website including which areas of the site you visit and which prospectuses or research papers you download or request.
You may browse some information-only areas of the Invesco Website without providing any personal information, however we may not be able to provide the full range of services through the Invesco Website if you do not provide the information outlined above.

The Invesco Website may contain links to websites operated by third parties (other than members of the Invesco Group) ("Third Party Websites"). Like most major websites, parts of the Invesco Website use "cookies" - small text files placed on your computer by our web server. Cookies are used by the Invesco Website to manage security and facilitate an effective and convenient interaction by you with the Invesco Website.
